Safeguarding Policy Statement

Parish Priest: Reverend Jim Williams                  01454 312161
Deacon:          Reverend Vincent Calder              01454 311717

We the clergy and people in this parish believe that each child and vulnerable adult in our community is created in the image of God.

We are committed to promoting the fullest, human, moral and spiritual development in each of them.

We believe in the personal dignity and rights of children and vulnerable adults and take seriously our special responsibly to protect their well-being.

We will do all in our power to ensure that our parish provides a safe and caring environment for children and vulnerable adults, and to prevent abuse of any kind.

All those in this parish who are involved in ministering to, or working with children and vulnerable adults are committed to establishing high standards of practice, in accordance with Diocesan safeguarding procedures and other Church and national guidance.

Copies of the Policy Statement are displayed in both St. Lawrence & St. Paul’s Churches and the Parish Centre at St. Lawrence

Important Information for Leaders of Parish Groups and Volunteers who hold a CRB
Due to requirements of the new Disclosure and Barring Service it is necessary for all those who hold a current CRB to ensure that they are complying with the changes to the Law. Your CRB will indicate whether you are cleared to work in one of three categories: children only, adults only, or adults and children. If your clearance shows you are only cleared to work with one specified group - either children only or adult only, your current CRB will not automatically allow you to work with any other group. To work with another group you will need to undergo a new DBS check. To ensure that we are all complying with current law, please do not accept a new role (volunteers) or appoint anyone with a CRB to a new role (Leaders) without seeking guidance from your Parish Representatives: contact details at top of the newsletter or on the notice boards in both churches. Thank you all for your assistance and patience during this time of considerable change.
